The GS1 Hong Kong Summit 2021

Dr. Kelvin Leung is the Chief Executive Officer of DHL Global Forwarding in Asia Pacific, and is responsible for managing and directing the business’ activities across the region. 

He joined the company (previously known as Danzas AEI) in 2002, and helmed various positions within the region, including Vice President of South East Pacific Region, Chief Executive Officer for North Asia Pacific and Chief Operating Officer for Asia Pacific. Prior to joining DHL Global Forwarding, Kelvin started his career with Cathay Pacific Airways in 1989.  

Kelvin holds a number of important positions in local and international organizations as well as the public and private sector, including:  
•    Chairman of GS1 Hong Kong
•    Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
•    Honorary President of the Hong Kong Logistics Management Staff Association
•    Fellow member of Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Canadian Chartered Institute of Business Administration and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Kelvin graduated from the University of Cambridge, Magdalene College, with a Masters in General Engineering Science. He received his doctorate in business administration at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His hobbies include philosophy, reading and sports.
 

Mr Alfred Sit joined the Government as Assistant Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in 1984 and was promoted to Chief Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in 2001, to Government Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in 2007, to Deputy Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services in 2011. He was Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services and Electrical and Mechanical Services Trading Fund General Manager since October 2017. On 22 April 2020, Mr Sit was appointed Secretary for Innovation and Technology.

Mr Sit is an electrical engineer by profession and has over 30 years’ experience in public administration. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He was the President of the Hong Kong Institution of Facility Management and Chairman of the Biomedical Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Mr Sit holds the Associateship in Electrical Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic and a master degree in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has also attended the Harvard Business School.
 

Ms. May Chung, General Manager of Nestlé Hong Kong, leading the businesses in Hong Kong and Macau region. May has comprehensive experiences in Consumer Goods Industry. Before joining Nestlé group, May held different local and regional positions in various global corporations. She also worked as a part-time tutor of Master Degree Course module, Strategic Management Issues in Asia Pacific, at Open University of Hong Kong.                
May has been actively contributing to the industry. She is currently the Vice Chairperson of GS1 Hong Kong Board as well as the Chairperson of its Food & Beverage Industry Advisory Board, supporting the organization in advocating various industry-related initiatives. She is also a member of American Chamber of Commerce’s Women of Influence Committee and a member of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Women Executives Club. 
With her significant contributions to the industry and the society, May has received the Fellowship Award of Asian College of Knowledge Management and the Asian Outstanding Leadership Award for Women.
May received a Master of Science Degree in International Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hon) in Business Studies from University of Strathclyde in United Kingdom and the City University of Hong Kong respectively.

Ms Anna Lin has over 30 years of senior management in strategy formulation, business planning execution and pioneering innovative industry platforms. In her current capacity as CEO of GS1 Hong Kong, she leads the organization to establish platforms, ecosystems and programmes to drive industry adoption of global supply chain standards, practices and technologies for enhanced business efficiency, digital commerce and IoT development. 

Ms Lin attains Chartered Fellow (FCILT), granted by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in 2018 in recognising her achievement and contribution to the industries in Hong Kong.

Mr. Ricky Wong possesses extensive and successful experience in telecom market liberalization, popularizing advanced technology and applications. Currently, Mr. Wong leads the Group to develop eCommerce, building Hong Kong’s largest online shopping mall and digital ecosystem “HKTVmall”, to provide one-stop shop services including online shopping, marketing & digital advertising, big data analysis, smart logistics & fulfilment as well as physical O2O stores, and to transform all business operation, trading, retail, finance and daily life onto a single digital online platform.  Mr. Wong is also leading the Group to explore business opportunities to global markets, assisting overseas traditional supermarkets or retailers to enter into digital retailing with our eCommerce knowledge, experiences and technical knowhow.

Topic : Way Beyond eCommerce

Running eCommerce in Hong Kong for years, we would like to share some key factors for HKTVmall’s survival, how the future looks like, how should we operate our business in future, and the way beyond from an eCommerce operator into a technology enabler.
 

Michael has been the Asia Pacific, Mainland China and Hong Kong Consumer Markets Leader of PwC since 2013. Prior to that, he was PwC Hong Kong’s Retail and Consumer Leader for over 5 years. He is responsible for coordinating practice strategy and service delivery for companies in the Consumer Markets sector in Hong Kong, China and the Asia Pacific region.

With almost 35 years of professional assurance experience in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, Michael has developed a strong passion in the consumer markets sector specialising in IPO advisory, business and due diligence reviews, asset injections and M&A activities in Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Michael is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, as well as the Council of the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF. Recently, Michael is invited to be a member of HKRMA Digital Advisory Panel, and the judge panel of Made in Hong Kong Awards 2020 and Retail Asia Awards 2021 organised by Hong Kong Business Magazine. Michael has extensive experience in public speaking on the general trends and outlook of the Hong Kong retail market and has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at leading industry events such as HKRMA Smart Retailing Award and industry sharing organised by British Chambers of Commerce, InvestHK and GSI HK. He was also invited to be a member of the Organising Committee at the Retail Asia Conference 2020 to provide consultation on themes and content direction. 

Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.  Michael is also a council member and chairman of the Audit Committee for UNICEF Hong Kong.
 

Mark Slade is the Managing Director for DHL Global Forwarding Hong Kong and Macau, the freight forwarding division of DHL, since January 2017. 

Prior to his appointment, Mark was the Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding Japan, having assumed that role in 2011. Mark joined DHL Global Forwarding in 2002 as Director, Airfreight at the Asia Pacific regional office in Singapore. 
 
Prior to joining DHL, Mark held various sales and management positions, where he was based in Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Singapore. He was the Chairman of the Logistics and Freight Committee, European Business Council in Japan from 2011 until 2015, and he has written frequently for the Nikkei, Japan's leading business daily.
 
A native of Canada, he has spent more than twenty years living in the Asia Pacific region, working in the logistics industry. Mark is a graduate of the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction), joint specialist in history and political science, minor in economics.

Mark is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation (FCILT), and vice-chair of the Shipping & Transport Committee at the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC).
 

Mr. Andi Umbricht has been with Zuellig Pharma over the past 20 plus years in a few Asian countries (China, Taiwan, Vietnam and most recent Hong Kong/Macau) supporting the Zuellig Group to be distribution partner of choice for manufacturer as well as customers. He currently is managing the Hong Kong and Macau as well spearheading the push into GBA and eCommerce. In addition in most recent times he has been very heavily involved in the role out of new initiatives such as highly automated warehouse and data solutions for external partners. 
 

Bio:
Originally from the United Kingdom, David Mouland has been living in Asia for nearly 30 years. He has been working in both the consumer and healthcare supply chain for more than 20 years.  He has held various key roles during this time including serving as Supply Chain Director at DKSH Thailand and as Logistics & Supply Chain Head at DKSH in Myanmar.  Since then he has been working at DCH Auriga Hong Kong as Logistics Country Head for 2 years and over the last 5 years serving as Vice President for Logistics heading up the entire Asia Pacific operations for the healthcare arm of DCH Holdings, a subsidiary of China’s CITIC group.

Lewis Sun has been appointed as Regional Head of Product Management for Global Liquidity and Cash Management in Asia-Pacific, effective from August 2017 

Mr. Sun has performed in various roles in China and Hong Kong and developed a notable career in GLCM since he first joined HSBC in 2002 as a Product Manager in mainland China. He was later seconded to Hong Kong as a Regional Sales Manager in 2008.

Mr. Sun became Head of Sales for GLCM in China in 2010. In this role, he succeed in providing cash management solutions and advice to corporates across mainland China, leading the team with his thorough understanding of the market landscape, the dynamic environment and the challenges faced by corporates in China. After that, he was appointed as Head of Global Liquidity and Cash Management, HSBC China in February 2015.

Mr. Sun holds a Master Degree in Electronics Engineering and an International MBA Degree from Tsinghua University, as well as a Certificate in International Cash Management from the Association of Corporate Treasurers in the UK. His education and his broad experience make him the ideal candidate to keep on driving the development of effective liquidity and cash management solutions for clients in Asia-Pacific.
 

Born in 1969, Mr. Carsten Brenker was educated in Hong Kong and the United States of America. Mr. Brenker holds a Master of International Management and Marketing from Thunderbird School of Global Management. He also holds lecturer positions in Germany, Tokyo and Hong Kong on direct retailing.

Starting his career in 1992, Mr. Brenker has had over 25-years of branding and retailing experience, opening and expanding international lifestyle brands in the Greater China, Japan, and South Korea markets. Mr. Brenker held management positions at a number of trading and retailing groups across Asia, including managing the operations of all online shops and multi-channel sales of Japan's biggest infomercial company Shop Japan as well as clothing giant Eddie Bauer.

In Aug. 2012, Mr. Brenker joined Jebsen Consumer as the Business Development Director, overseeing the branding, marketing and retailing strategies of premium lifestyle brands in Greater China. During his tenure, Jebsen Consumer successfully started the distribution of the first premium vacuum cleaner brand, Dyson, in Hong Kong and Mainland China. In just a few years, Mr. Brenker and his team have successfully extended the brand's presence and penetration in Greater China.

Mr. Brenker also led the market entry of Jebsen’s own premium lifestyle omni-channel brand J SELECT in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Partnering with top global brands, Jebsen Consumer now covers over 500 points of sale in the region. Under his leadership, Jebsen Consumer has also increased its service-centric approach to provide acclaimed (HKRMA) customer experience across all channels and markets.

In Apr. 2018, Mr. Brenker was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Jebsen Consumer, and in May 2020, Mr. Brenker was named Managing Director of Jebsen Consumer.

Mr. Brenker is married with two children.

Since 2012, she has also served as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Jennifer Tam, an experienced brand strategist who worked with diverse clientele from SMEs to listed companies in both local and international market. She is now working at Chicks – a 67 years old Hong Kong apparel brand specializes in quality innerwear for all ages. 

As the 4th generation, she is continuing the brand’s legacy as well as enhancing all touch points from supply chain to brand experience for people who share the same believes - The best for the family.

Through blockchain technology can create a complete transparency from fibre to retail. In the presentation we will explore what possibilities there are for the future relating to sustainability as well as whether it is difficult for a brand to implement.

Bio:

Karen Ho joined WWF in 2008 as Business Engagement Leader, Climate. Inspired by the “An Inconvenient Truth”, Karen wanted to use her diverse international management, business development and marketing experiences to help WWF engage corporate and community to act on climate change and build a culture of carbon performance management, as well as pursue efforts towards sustainability.

In the capacity of Business Engagement Leader for Climate, she worked on climate and energy issues in Hong Kong and China, engaging with businesses and industries across the spectrum to initiate, lead and oversee the development of various climate programmes. 

Karen assumed a new position as Head of Corporate and Community Sustainability in August 2017 and started to work on mainstreaming sustainable practices across supply chains and different businesses, continue to oversee low-carbon programmes offering a holistic approach from pre-assessment, data monitoring and ESG reporting. In addition to the growth of Low Carbon Manufacturing Programme (LCMP) and Low-carbon Office Operation Programme (LOOP), Karen also explores and facilitates collaborative initiatives that are making the community and corporations more sustainable. 

An accomplished senior executive, Karen held senior management positions in several Fortune 500 companies prior to joining WWF. Karen holds a Master degree of Business Administration from University of Surrey, UK and is accredited as Chartered Marketer by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK since 2001.

Dr Hong FUNG is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC). CUHKMC is the private teaching hospital wholly owned by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Dr FUNG is also Professor of Practice in Health Services Management at the Jockey Club School of Public Health & Primary Care, CUHK, where he teaches health services planning, healthcare innovation and technology management, healthcare financing, communications and marketing, and decision making in the School’s master and leadership programs.

Topic: Planning of a Smart Hospital
 
CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC) is a private teaching hospital wholly owned by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). CUHKMC is founded on the social mission of providing quality healthcare to the public with affordable and transparent prices. The hospital is expected to complete construction in mid 2020 and open towards the end of 2020.
 
The Hospital is planned with extensive adoption of information technology to support its triple aim, i.e. achieving population health, enhancing patient experiences, and reducing financial burden to the patients. An integrated digital strategy is developed that defines the scope of a “Smart Hospital” with 3 essential components: (a) Smart Medicine - a fully digitalized electronic medical record system that support clinical decision making and population health; (b) Smart Care - close loop mobile applications that support doctors, nurses, and patients themselves to go through the patient journeys; (c) Smart Management - strategic adoption of Internet of Things to increase efficiency in the daily operation and management of the patient care and supporting services.
 
The presentation will highlight the complexities involved in the planning of a “Smart Hospital” and the lessons learned.

Clarence Ching is Solace’s Director, Solutions Consultant, heading up the sales engineering and driving innovation uses of Solace technology in Greater China. Joined in 2016 and based in Hong Kong, Clarence has spearheads a series of projects and responsible for growing revenues in Greater China aligning Solace technology with customer requirements.

Focused on supporting our clients by initiating roadmaps and strategies, Clarence has helped to develop deeper technical relationships with partners and clients in Greater China by providing project-based solutions in areas such as cloud, digital transformation and internet of things, and in various sectors like financial services, telecommunications, public sector and transportation and logistics. Clarence has extensive experiences across industries. He helped customer including OOCL, BOCI, and CFES on digital transformation to shift to event-driven architecture.

Prior to joining Solace, Clarence held Director of Solutions Consultant, Greater China position at TIBCO Software and Professional Services Director position at Global Technology Integrator. Clarence holds a B.Sc. degree in computer science from University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Tandy Tan is the Head of Global Marketing at SmartMore. He is a senior engineer of computer vision with over 15 years of solid experience with multiple international patents. Gordon obtained a master degree of Business Administration at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and attended MBA Finance & Marketing program at Insead University, Singapore. After he took the Certificate of Internal Change Agent program at The Poon Kam Kai Institute of Mgt., HKU, he started to act as internal change agent in different companies. He worked in different hands-on positions as internal trainer, operator, sales head, business development and company general management in F&B companies in Greater China region for more than 20 years. He is a strong team leader that work with different teams and lead changes with positive results. From 2019, he led IGF to migrate from traditional B2B business model into a combination of B2B, B2C and online business unit.   

Dr. Lam joined GS1 Hong Kong in 2016 and serves as the Chief Operating Officer overseeing solutions development and deployment, consultancy services and business development, facilitating corporate members’ adoption of GS1 global standards and technologies, to empower business to grow and to improve efficiency, safety, authenticity and sustainability, through Go Digital and Go Smart. 
Before joining GS1 Hong Kong, Stephen had spent more than 20 years in IT industry, had served as senior product management and business development leader in several renowned hi-tech companies including IBM, Akamai, WebEx and Coremetrics in Hong Kong with proven records in leading complex business adoptions in cloud computing, AI and data analytics.

Stephen graduated from the State University of New York with PhD in Computer Science. He specialized in AI, Data Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision, and has authored more than 30 refereed publications.

Mr Nelson Chow has been appointed to the present position from 1 September 2016 with responsibilities for facilitating the healthy development of the fintech ecosystem in Hong Kong and promoting Hong Kong as a fintech hub in Asia. He joined the HKMA in 2004 and was responsible for the supervision of banks’ technology risk management and business continuity planning as well as the formulation of related policies and guidelines. He was the Deputy Chief Representative of the New York Office in 2010. After returning to Hong Kong in 2013, he took up responsibilities to supervise banks’ operational risk management and perform macro-prudential data analysis. Prior to joining the HKMA, Mr Chow was a Vice President of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. responsible for information risk management of the Asia Pacific region.

Biswajyoti Upadhyay (BJ) is Managing Director, Head of TB Sales CCIB for HK, Taiwan and Japan. Prior to this role he was Transaction Banking Head, Hong Kong. BJ moved to HK in 2015 and has done various roles including Head of Trade, HK TB Head and Co-head of TB Greater China & North Asia.

Winnie Tung has been appointed as Managing Director & Head, Business Banking, Consumer, Private and Business Banking, Hong Kong since 4th March 2019. Dr Lo is a Founding Governor of the Charles K Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease

Dr Lo started his business career at McKinsey & Company and had subsequently held
various top management posts at HK Telecom, Cable & Wireless plc, Citibank, WPP

1999, Dr Lo was appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP) of HKSAR Government for his

Committee Member of Shantou People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Dr Lo serves as an independent non-executive director on the board of a number of

Stephanie Law is the Managing Director of CTL Group and Culture Homes, a leading integrated aged care product and service provider in Hong Kong that offers elderly homes, elderly living community, retail and distribution of lifestyle and rehabilitation products, experience center for smart aging and consultancy services. Stephanie has spearheaded the family business into a new era in aged care through innovative assisted living products and technologies.
