Full members can use the GS1 Global Company Prefix to generate unique identification numbers for products (GTIN, including EAN-13), shipments (SSCC), locations (GLN), etc. |

SSCC Membership (Serial Shipping Container Code) Items that are not traded but constructed for ease, for example, pallets, barrels, crates and containers, are called logistic units. Logistic units are handled by various trading partners along the supply chain. The SSCC allows each logistic unit to be clearly identified. It can be used by all parties involved in the supply chain as a reference number to the relevant information held in computer files. |
