GS1 Joins The Sustainability Consortium

August 23, 2013 - Arizona, USA  – GS1, a neutral, not-for-profit, global organization that develops and maintains the most widely-used supply chain standards system in the world, has officially announced its’ membership with The Sustainability Consortium (TSC). Like TSC, GS1 is a member-based organization with 40 years of experience in over 110 countries driven by over a million user companies.

The GS1 system is an integrated system of global standards that provides for accurate identification and communication of information regarding products, assets, services and locations. It is the most implemented supply chain standards system in the world and is the foundation of a wide range of efficiency-building supply chain applications and solutions.

GS1 will be an important player in the Retail and Measurement Science Consortium Working Groups within TSC, contributing to the communication of information throughout the supply chain as well as to suppliers. GS1 will also have the opportunity to participate in the seven other sector working groups within TSC such as Food, Beverage, and Agriculture.

Since its’ launch in 2009, The Sustainability Consortium has identified over 500 improvement opportunities and 400 hotspots across nine working groups. Recently, The Sustainability Consortium has launched an office in China, making it the fourth global office. TSC staff, participates, and members will gather together for TSC’s 3^rd Member Summit Meeting dated October 9-11 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
