Kevin Lee Ka Tsun, Founder & CEO of Redspots Creative, has been contributing in the media production and digital entertainment industry for more than 18 years. After studies on story creation, film languages, film and video production, he started his career from the Hong Kong Film Awards Association, TVB (Television Broadcasts Limited) and various production houses and participated in producing more than 230 hours of TV drama series and 2000 episodes of online programs, from acting as a production assistant, to a producer then an executive producer. Since he started his own business in 2007, he has been developing latest media technologies and providing all-rounded media and creative production services to the Asia markets. In 2009, he and his team established ‘miniV.tv’, the first 3G mobile interactive TV platform in Mainland China, which had later become a main business stream of a leading entertainment listed company in the market. He has also established ‘Maji TV’, the first 3D TV channel in Hong Kong partnering with Samsung and LG Smart TV platforms, and MOME TV, the leading transportation media in Macau. His company has developed various proprietary AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) technologies, registered 14 software copyrights and served numerous international brands and clients in different countries and regions. Signature projects includes Liminal Encounters, the 1st outdoor AR Exhibition in Hong Kong presenting virtually the art pieces of various artists from Asia Society, and Transformers 30th Anniversary AR cards, the 1st AR collectible series of Transformers in the world.
With his extended knowledge in media technology, he and his partners developed the ‘StoneMask Real-time Animation Production System’, which has a majority market share in the Great China market, where creative teams and character designers can create high quality animation contents in a real time manner. The StoneMask System won the ‘Digital Entertainment (Interactive Design) Gold Award’, ‘Digital Entertainment Grand Award’ and ‘Award of the Year’ in the most prestige and renowned technology award in Hong Kong - The HKICT Award 2019. Kevin was awarded the 2019 Asia-Pacific Cultural and Creative Industry Award and selected by Deloitte, the global Big 4 accounting firm, as the ‘Hong Kong Technology Rising Star 2019’. In 2020, Kevin is also awarded the ‘Greater Bay Area Outstanding Entrepreneur’. With his success of further developments in the digital assets, web 3 and metaverse industry, and also on IP incubation, verification and licensing, he was awarded ‘2022 Forbes China Outstanding Entrepreneur’ and ‘2022 Top 10 Excellence in Startup Innovation Award (NFT, Web 3, Metaverse) – Merit’.
In addition to his entrepreneurship spirits, Kevin also has an ever-learning attitude. Since his graduation from BBA (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Hong Kong, he continues his studies in film arts, script writing, productions and technology developments. In 2019, he finished his study in the Professional Education Certificate Programme in Digital Transformation from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and he has recently finished studying a Higher Education Teaching Certificate course from The Derek Bok Centre for Teaching & Learning of Harvard University. He is now a postgraduate of Master Degree in Arts and Cultural Enterprise in Central Saint Martins of University of Arts London. He also contributes to the educational sector; he is now acting as Guest Lecturer of Master of Arts on Cultural Management program of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and of the Department of Art and Design and Advisor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, and also as a Visiting Fellow of the Hong Kong Design Institute, hosting a cross disciplinary programme on designer character IPs, bringing more than 300 students from Communication Designs, Digital Media and Product Designs to go through the ‘IP Incubation Journey’ via lectures, workshops and guest sharing, in order to let them learn the essence of IP designs, IP contents creation and productions. Kevin is also providing training to university professors, lecturers and teachers on the technology application for the creative industry as a Training Partner in the Hong Kong Productivity Council, including NFT and metaverse courses.
